Felony Fraud – Credit Card Abuse
Crime of the Week Press Release
San Marcos Police Department, September 2, 2010

Hays County Crime Stoppers is assisting the San Marcos Police Department in solving the following Felony Fraud - Credit Card Abuse.

This Crime of the Week is a crime of opportunity.  In most cases, an honest person who finds a purse in a shopping cart at a store would normally turn the purse into store personnel where the person who left it could retrieve it.  Unfortunately, this is not the case with this incident …

On Thursday, July 22, 2010, at approximately 7:00pm, a female left her purse in a shopping cart at the San Marcos Target store, located on the IH 35 West Access near McCarty Lane.  After putting her purchases in her car in the Target parking lot, the victim immediately returned to where she had left the shopping cart and the purse was gone.

At 7:20pm, an unidentified black female made a purchase at the Target store with the victim’s credit card and was photographed leaving the store with the victim’s purse in her shopping cart. Over the next several hours, the suspect went on a shopping spree and used the victim’s stolen credit cards at several other locations in the San Marcos area, the last of which was the Sac-N-Pac store at the corner of East Hopkins Street and Cheatham Street.    San Marcos Police Investigators have no leads as to the identity of the suspect and need your help to solve this crime.

Hays County Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 CASH for information that helps Law Enforcement agencies solve Felony Crimes.
